I worked at chase bank for a year and left on august, they sent me a letter saying they overpaid me over 600 dollars.
Avvo Question: They have now sent me to a collection agency, that sent me a letter as well. I put my 2 weeks notice before a left. They say, they made a mistake and overpaid me for vacation and other time that is hard for me to understand. I’m not sure if they did overpay me pay me but if they did, Do I have to pay their mistake?
Avvo Answer: If you were indeed overpaid, you will likely have to return the money to your former employer. Yes, the mistake was their mistake by overpaying you but you can’t just keep the money as it was unearned. Talk to the collection agency and see if you can make payments to them to repay the monies owed. If you have additional debts that are also being sent to collections or that you can’t pay, it may be in your best interest to visit with an experienced bankruptcy attorney in Mesa about what options may be available to you.
I hope that you found this information helpful and that you question was answered.
